Aliases vs. Redirects

Image
Aliases vs. Redirects Both redirects and aliases work in the same way, and their aim is to take your visitors to another website page. However, what differs between them is the end result. What doesn’t change in a web browser is Alias URLs. What this means is that when the alias URL (example.org) is typed in by visitors, the original content on example.com will be loaded by the browser, but the window of the URL will still say “example.org.” You need to log into cPanel if you want to add a Domain Alias to your account. Once you’ve logged into cPanel, you can click on Domain. On this new screen, you will be able to add new Aliases. To add the Alias, all you need to do is go to the Create a New Domain section and tick the box under Document Root (File System Location). You can manage any new alias that you have added. What are the setbacks of aliases? The traffic numbers of your website will be split when you use aliases since some of the visitors will use the original domain URL, and ot...

Sub Domains

Sub Domains When you’re visiting a certain website, you might notice that based on your location on the page you’re visiting, the URL in the search bar changes as well. In this article, we will go over the part of the URL that changes, and it’s called a subdomain. A subdomain is an additional part of your main domain name. A subdomain is created to navigate through and organize different sections of your site. On your main domain, you can create several subdomains or child domains. Addon Domain

Image
Addon Domain What is an addon domain? As the name implies, an addon domain is an additional domain name that you can add to your hosting plan. You can create this domain in your control panel, and it is a domain that is completely functional. Your addon domain can be given forwarders, email addresses, and more, the same way you would to a main (primary) domain on your account. When you create an Addon domain, in the root directory, there will be a folder with the name of the domain name unless you specify another name or path for the folder. For the primary domain, there will be a subdomain that will be created and attached to the new folder. [addon].maindomain.com will be linked to the primary domain name with every addon domain, which can be used to preview websites as well. In order to add an addon domain, you will need to click on create domains after you have logged in to cPanel, and they enter your domain at the top. The location of your document root will be in the last field. K...

SSL certificate in cPanel

Image
SSL Certificates How to Install AutoSSL certificate in cPanel An SSL certificate on your site gives you the padlock icon in your browser, and this encrypts communications between visitors to your site and the server. Google is now giving sites without SSL certificates a warning in the browser so it is more important than ever to have an SSL certificate on your site. All sites/domains hosted by Verpex are automatically enrolled in the Auto SSL system - this is included free of charge with all hosting packages on Verpex. This means that as long as the domain points to us (via the nameservers or A record) the system will request an SSL for the domain and install it automatically if it doesn't already have one. This process is transparent and requires no intervention from you. Generally speaking, it takes 4 hours after pointing the nameservers for the SSL to be requested and installed, but, if it takes longer than this or if your SSL certificate is not working, please let us know. or t...
